"One-Of-A-Kind"
Fender Custom Shop Telecaster / Electric Xll by Fred Stuart.

1992 Fender Custom-Shop Double-Neck Telecaster/12 String (Fred Stuart).

Offset asymmetrical double cutaway solid body. This unique double-neck Telecaster / Electric Xll weighs 13.40 lbs. and is a one-of-a-kind instrument specially designed and built by Master luthier Fred Stuart in late 1991 (completed in January 1992). The guitar features a beautiful asymmetrical double-cut, one-piece see-thru blond light-ash body with wonderful bluish 'veins' showing through. On the Telecaster side, rounded edges on the back and on the Electric Xll, a contoured edge on the bass side, so that the body contours reflect the half of the instrument they represent. Both of the necks are hand-carved from solid lightly-figured maple and have 'slab' rosewood fretboards (the Tele fretboard is dark rosewood, the Electric Xll fretboard is a lighter shade. The Telecaster neck has a wonderfully thin-to-medium profile (similar to a '66) and a nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches. The Electric Xll neck has a very comfortable medium profile and a nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches. Both have a scale length of 25 1/2 inches and 21 medium frets with white dot position markers. The Telecaster headstock has the Fender mid-sixties "Transition" logo in gold with black trim with "Telecaster" and "Pat 2,573,254 3,143,028" The Electric Xll "hockey-stick" headstock also has the Fender "Transition" logo in gold with black trim "Electric Xll" and "Pat 3.143,028 2,960,900 3,177,283 & Pat Pend." Both necks have individual 'no-name' Kluson Deluxe tuners with oval metal buttons. The Telecaster headstock has a single butterfly string tree with no spacer, and the Electric Xll headstock has an eight-hole "bracket" string guide. On the back of the Telecaster headstock is a small oval gold decal with "Custom Shop / [headstock outline] / Fender U.S.A." On the back of the Electric Xll headstock is a small decal with the serial number "0322" in black and another small oval gold decal with "Custom Built / Fred Stuart / Fender USA". The underside of the Telecaster neck is signed in pencil "F.S. for / DBL NECK", and also stamped in black "GASTELLUM" whilst the Electric Xll neck is dated in pencil "F.S. 12-91". Each neck with a four-bolt neck plate. The Electric Xll neck pickup cavity is stamped in blind "FS 355E" The Telecaster with a single-coil "Tele" pickup encased in metal shell in the neck position with an output of 8.60k and a single-coil 'Broadcaster' style flat-pole bridge pickup with 'copper base' and a huge output of 10.21k in the bridge position. The Electric Xll with three early-to-mid sixties style white-plastic covered Stratocaster pickups - the neck and middle with staggered poles and the bridge pickup with flat poles. The outputs are 5.87k, 6.25k and 7.25k (neck to bridge). Single-layer black plastic pickguard (for both guitars) with seven screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) plus five-way 'Tele' style pickup selector switch with black plastic 'top-hat' tip and a three-way mini switch for neck selection, all on metal plate adjoining pickguard. Fifties style 'Tele' knobs with domed tops and knurled sides. Telecaster with late sixties style bridge assembly with three 'grooved' steel saddles and Tele base. Electric Xll with Fender twelve steel-saddle combined bridge/tailpiece. This unique guitar is in mint (9.50) condition.
