2021 Fender 50 Pine Esquire CC (Full thickness body)

A fabulous, never-been-played, effectively brand new Esquire from the best of Fender's Custom Shop. This incredibly lightweight solid vintage pine body guitar with a 12.50 inch wide, a full over 1.80 inch thick, weighs just 6.80 lbs. One-piece huge "C" profile maple neck with a radius of 7.25 - 9.50 inches, a nut width of just over 1 5/8 inches, a neck profile which basically remains almost constant at 0.97 inches behind the first fret all the way down to 1.00 inches the 12th fret and a scale length of 25 inches. Twenty-one medium jumbo frets with black dot markers. Small black dot side markers. On the back of the headstock is the Fender Custom Shop decal. Plain four-bolt neck plate. Individual single-line Fender [Kluson] Deluxe tuners with oval metal buttons. Single-coil black flush six-polepiece hand-wound '50-'51 'Blackguard' pickup, angled in bridge-plate, with an incredibly strong output of 9.46k. Single-layer black bakelite pickguard with three slot-head screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) with "taller" type chrome knobs with heavily knurled sides and pronounced "dome" tops, and three-way tone selector swutch with black plastic 'round' tip, all on metal plate with slot-head screws. Original Vintage Style Esquire Bridge with three twin-grooved steel saddles, slot-head screws and the serial number "R105740" stamped in blind. Every screw on this guitar is a period correct 'slot-head' as opposed to the later 'Phillips-head' type. This guitar is in mint, as new (9.50) condition. Complete with all of the original case-candy including: Fender Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity (in black leather folder) Date "05/17/2021" Model "50 Pine Esquire CC" Serial # R105740"; "Fender Shop Floor Traveller" order page; Telecaster control panel with pots & switch; Hand-wound Telecaster neck pickup dated "5.6.21" complete with cloth wiring, springs & screws; Single-layer white plastic 'Telecaster' pickguard with five screw-holes; Bridge (ashtray) cover; Black leather Fender Custom Shop guitar strap; All of the original paperwork, catalogs, hang-tags etc., and even the original pack of picks with case key. Housed in the original Fender Custom Shop G & G center-pocket tweed case with tan leather ends and burgundy plush lining (9.50).

This guitar came from a former Fender employee - he never used it… it is 100% fresh. This a re-creation of Fender's original 1950 very first solid-body electric guitar, the single-pickup, very light weight pine body Esquire. It’s got an original-type nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a hand-wound ‘50-‘51 pickup and is outfitted with full-throttle Esquire wiring. Complete with a neck pickup complete with full control assembly and appropriate pickguard to convert it to full Telecaster specs if you want; the “ashtray“ for the bridge; original Fender Custom Shop folder with serial-numbered CoA, “Shop Floor Traveler” order, black leather Fender strap, and lots more Fender Custom Shop paperwork.

What makes this guitar unique is that it was specially ordered by Fender rep. Tim Penn with a 1.80 inches thick vintage pine body as opposed to the normal current run which has a thinner 1.50 inch thick laminated pine body.

"Perhaps the rarest Fender® guitar is its first one—the single-pickup pine-body Esquire®. The very first Fender electric solid-body guitar. Wasn’t even around for a full year, and yet it changed guitar music forever. Fender shipped barely a handful of them before changing the body to ash and the finish to blonde. True to the original, this faithful recreation features a slightly thinner (1.5”) laminated pine body. Its one-piece rift-sawn maple neck has a 1950 Esquire profile, no truss rod, a 7.25”-9.5” vintage compound radius and 21 medium vintage frets. With its NOS “flash coat” nitrocellulose lacquer finish and Closet Classic hardware, the Vintage Custom 1950 Pine Esquire looks like a well-cared-for original with only slight aging to its metal parts. A hand-wound ‘50-‘51 Blackguard pickup is outfitted with full-throttle Esquire wiring (Position 1: Volume and Tone, Position 2: Volume, Position 3: Pickup Straight to Output) with a three-way switch. Other features include a single-ply eggshell pickguard, 1950 Esquire bridge with original style steel saddles, vintage-style tuning machines, and disk string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap, 1950 Esquire control assembly, and certificate of authenticity."
