A total run of 450 guitars were made with just 100 hand aged (the other 350 were given the VOS (Vintage Original Specification). This guitar is the very first of the 'Hand-Aged' guitars.

This guitar has been made to the exact specification of Marc Bolan's original ''Chablis". Although the Les Paul Custom neck with which it was most often seen has lead to some confusion over the origins of Marc Bolans guitar, the instrument was actually a late '50s Les Paul that was stripped and refinished by Bolan himself in a faded translucent dubbed "Bolan Chablis", then re-necked after an accident in the early '70s. The replacement Les Paul Custom neck comlete with the 'dreaded' volute has also been re-created, reflecting Gibson's policy at the time of only providing replacement necks with a black finish. The hardware and the finish of the guitar have been gently and expertly aged to make it look exactly like the real Marc's distinctive Les Paul.

At the height of his fame in the early to mid-1970s, Bolan – born Mark Feld (30th September 1947) – outsold Jimi Hendrix and The Who with his band T Rex. His good looks, catchy songs, air of mystique and untimely death at the age of just twenty-nine has assured that interest in the star has never waned. Marc Bolan and his friend David Bowie were affectionately known as the Godfathers of Glam Rock. His string of hits included "Ride A White Swan", "Hot Love", Get It On", "Jeepster", Telegram Sam","Metal Guru", "Children Of The Revolution" and "Solid Gold Easy Action". Marc's son, Rolan Bolan is continuing in his late father's footsteps with his new single "Children Of The Revolution" - well worth a listen.
