A Thinline Stratocaster Specially Built by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, Jay Black

This Shoreline Gold "Thinline" Stratocaster is one of a very few specially built by Jay Black at the Fender Custom Shop in 1997. This very unusual guitar weighs 7.80 lbs. and has a nut width of 1 5/8 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Semi-hollow mahogany body and maple neck with slab rosewood fretboard with 21 frets and clay dot position markers. Large headstock with Fender "Spaghetti" logo in gold with black trim. Single "butterfly" string tree. Individual Fender Deluxe locking tuners with five-sided pearloid buttons. Four-bolt neck plate with engraved Fender Custom Shop logo. Three-ply (pearloid/black/white) plastic pickguard with eleven screws. Three white plastic-covered Stratocaster staggered-pole pickups with hot outputs of 6.01k, 6.10k, and 6.18k. Three controls (two volume, one tone) plus three-way selector switch, all on pickguard. White plastic ribbed-sided knobs with gold lettering. Fender "Jazzmaster" bridge and "Horse-Shoe"-style Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. The underside of the neck is stamped in red: "J.W. Black/11-97/Guitar Center #3." The neck cavity is also stamped in red: "J.W. Black/11-97/Guitar Center #3." The underneath of the pickguard is screened with silver foil. The silver foil is engraved by Jay Black: "J W Black/Guitar Center/11-97/Fat 50's." The pickup cavities are painted black and the neck pickup cavity and the middle pickup cavity are stamped in blind: "J W B" and "G C" respectively. This super guitar has all gold-plated hardware, including the pickup polepieces, and is in near mint (9.25) condition. Housed in the original Fender Tweed center-pocket hardshell case with imitation brown leather ends and red plush lining (9.25). With the original cord, leather strap, Custom Shop catalogue, Custom Shop decal, owner's registration book, additional tremolo strings, polishing cloth, saddle adjustment key, and Custom Shop plectrum.
