This absolutely mint '51 Fender Japan reissue bass guitar weighs just 8.30 lbs. and has a 13 inch wide solid ash 'slab' body. One-piece maple neck with a nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches and a full bass scale length of 34 inches, 20 frets and black dot position markers. Single circular string tree. Individual Gotoh cloverleaf tuners. Small headstock with Fender 'Spaghetti' logo in silver with black trim and "Precision Bass" in black beneath it. On the back of the headstock is a small oval gold label with "50th Anniversary 1946-1996". Four-bolt neckplate. One black flat-pole single coil pickup with a huge output of 27.20k. Single-layer black fiber pickguard with seven screws. Two controls (one volume and one tone) on lower treble bout. Domed-top knurled sided chrome control knobs. Combined two-saddle bridge/tailpiece. The potentiometers are stamped "137 9610" (CTS March 1996). The underside of the neck is stamped in black "OPB51-EX" and the neck pocket is stamped in black "OPB-51 EX". Small transparent label on underside of neck with "Made in Japan / Serial number U 034227". This guitar is in mint (9.50) condition and is housed in the original G & G reissue brown 'Poodle' case with red plush lining (9.50).

This fine Japanese reissue is based on the first generation Precision Bass (1951-1953).
