Fleetwood Mac Signed Flying V 90

This signed Flying V 90 weighs 7.90 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Solid mahogany body, mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard with 24 frets and inlaid pearl split-diamond position markers. Triangular headstock with rounded top and vertical inlaid pearl "Gibson" logo. Individual Grover Roto-Matic tuners with half-moon metal buttons. Single uncovered (Dirty Fingers) humbucker pickup with an output of 13.11k. Five-layer (black/white/black/white/black) plastic pickguard. One volume control on pickguard. Black plastic bell-shaped "Bell" knob with white markings. Nashville-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and Flying V through-body tailpiece (V-shaped string anchor plate). The jack plate is on the inside of the bass V. All hardware is black chrome. With the original metal Steinberger thigh rest on the treble side of the guitar. This guitar is in mint (9.50) condition. Housed in the original Gibson brown hardshell case with purple plush lining (8.50). Complete with the original guarantee, owner's manual, and case combination.

This guitar was given to Houston radio personality Paul Christy by Fleetwood Mac during their 1990 tour. The top of the guitar is signed by the members of the band: "Love/+ thanks!/John/McVie./F/Mac '90"; "Much/love/Stevie/Nicks/xx"; "Mick Fleetwood"; "Thank You!/Christine McVie/[flourish]"; "Billy Burnette"; and "Best Wishes to Paul/Rick Vito." The signatures are large and bold, with the exception of Stevie Nicks, who was in an unidentified altered state, so Mick Fleetwood took the pen from her hand and signed her name on her behalf.

Together with a letter of authenticity from Paul Christy: "This 1988 Gibson Flying V guitar (serial number 82888710) was given to me in 1990 as a gift by Fleetwood Mac in appreciation of my years of support and airplay as Program Director and Air Personality at KRBE, Houston. The guitar was inscribed in my presence by the band members backstage as they prepared for the Houston concert. The guitar remains unplayed in its original case and has been in my possession since the night it was presented to me." Also included is the original colored cloth backstage pass ("Fleetwood Mac/Behind The Mask/World Tour 1990/[Picture]/Staff").

"Gibson was aware of the success of long-scale guitars during this period of time and adapted the Flying V to meet these specifications. The V90 was an unusual Flying V and one of the few models (along with the V90 Double and Golden Eagle) designed with the longer 25 1/2" scale length used on the Fender Stratocaster guitars. This longer scale makes the body appear smaller than other Flying V guitars, when in fact it is the neck that is longer. The longer scale accommodates two extra frets (24 total). On the backside, along the top of the bass side wing is a sculpted cut-out. A split-diamond pattern...is inlaid on an ebony fingerboard. One L8 humbucker pickup, one knob, small black pickguard. Gibson's version of the Floyd Rose tremolo is found on some models and those guitars have a black control plate located at the center of the back of the guitar. The hardware is black chrome. With a bell shaped truss rod cover and vertical Gibson pearl logo inlay.
