1987 Mosrite The Ventures Model.

This 'Unique' 1987 'custom color' "The Ventures" model is inscribed by Semie Moseley on the back of the headstock. The guitar weighs 9.40 lbs. and has a nut width of 1 5/8 inches and a scale length of 24.75 inches. Chambered two-piece alder body, 14 inches wide and 2 inches deep. Unique 'Partial German Carved' top with scalloped edge on the treble cutaway, the treble bout and the bass cutaway - extending half-way down the bass top edge. One-piece medium profile rock-maple neck with a single-bound 'slab' rosewood fretboard with serial number "87 004" stamped in blind on the twenty-second fret. Metal nut, zero fret and 22 original 'medium' frets with small double and triple clay dot position markers and small black dot side markers. Specially shaped "Ventures" headstock with black decal "Mosrite logo" and "Mosrite of California The Ventures Model". Individual 'Kluson' deluxe tuners with oval metal buttons. The truss-rod adjustment is on the body end of the neck. Four-bolt metal neck plate. Two Mosrite single coil pickups with white plastic covers (and surrounds) atmped with "Mosrite of California", with outputs of 7.48k and 9.39k. Three-layer white over black plastic pickguard with seven screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) plus three-way pickup selector switch, all on pickguard. Mosrite 'hat type' control knobs with "M" stamped on top, both numbered  "T 1 to 5". Mosrite bridge with six individually adjustable saddles and rosewood stop tailpiece secured by two screws. The back of the headstock is inscribedby Semie Moseley "Mosrite for Eve / Semie Moseley". This guitar comes from Semi Moseley's own collection and is in near mint (9.25) condition. The aquamarine finish is bright and unfaded and there is a decal of a red bird [a Cardinal] on the bass top edge. This decal is under the original lacquer finish so it is safe to assume that Semie himself did this specially for 'Eve'. Housed in it's original three-latch rectangular dark gray cloth hardshell case with black leather ends and black plush lining (9.25).

We have never seen this particular style of 'German' carve before…
