A nice meaty 9.60 lbs. with a very comfortable neck, in as near mint condition as you could wish for. With a cream bound mahogany body and maple top, a one piece mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with wide frets and pearl crown inlays. Two hot P-90 pickups with outputs of 8.15 and 8.16 k. This guitar is in fact the 'sixth version' of the Les Paul. Based on the "second version'"of 1953-55, with a one-piece bridge/ tailpiece, but with Gibson embossed logo on the pickups. Also referred to in literature as "Standard 58." Only 25 of these guitars were produced, all in 1971.

A very rare and almost unknown version of one of the great Les PAFs. In the original Gibson black hardshell case with maroon plush lining (9.00).

Although Gibson reintroduced the Les Paul in 1968, it was not until 1971 that they produced this first authentic reissue which was faithfully based on the 53-55 Les Paul Gold Top.
