Original 1968 Danelectro 5005 Convertible

 

1968 Danelectro Convertible Model 5005.

 

This 13 1/4 inch-wide, 2 inch deep, double-cutaway (short-horn) hollow-body guitar weighs just 5.50 lbs. Masonite top with 2 1/2 inch diameter sound-hole (with factory ready holes for installation of a pickup). Masonite back over pine frame. Woodgrain (Kitchen-counter) body with white vinyl edging. Two metal strap buttons. One-piece poplar neck with a very wide nut width of just under 1 3/4 inches, a scale length of 25.00 inches and a medium-to-thin profile. Three screw neck-to-body attachment with dual steel non-adjustable "Never Warp" truss rod system. Brazilian 'Slab' rosewood fretboard with aluminium nut with 21 original medium frets, white plastic position dot markers and silver side dot markers. ''Line Style 3' headstock with silver-faced black plastic "Danelectro". Closed-back 'Skate-Key' strip tuners with 'ridged' metal buttons. Silver label on back of headstock with serial number "823025". Three 'pre-drilled' factory holes for the installation of controls. Single metal saddle on height adjustable Brazilian rosewood base. Top mounted aluminium tailpiece secured by two screws. The production date number "825" (25th week of 1968) is stamped onto the end of the neck.  This super-light 'Convertible 5005' guitar is in near mint (9.25) condition with just a few small surface marks on the vinyl edges. Housed in a the original? two-latch, rectangular softshell case (8.75)
