One of the Cleanest Late Fifties Strats that we have ever seen…

 

1959 Fender Stratocaster.

 

This "dream" guitar weighs just 7.50 lbs. and has a nut width of just over 1 5/8 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Solid alder body, contoured on back and lower bass bout, and finished in three-tone Sunburst (yellow-red-black). One-piece fretted 'flamed' maple neck with 21 original small frets and black dot position markers. Small headstock with Fender "spaghetti" logo in gold with black trim, "STRATOCASTER" in black beside it, "WITH SYNCHRONIZED TREMOLO" in black below it, and "ORIGINAL Contour Body" at the ball end of the headstock. Individual single-line Kluson Deluxe tuners with oval metal buttons (stamped inside: "D-169400/Patent No"). Single butterfly string tree with metal spacer. Four-bolt neck plate with the serial number between the top two screws. Three white plastic-covered black-bottom single-coil pickups with staggered pole-pieces and nice, hot outputs of 6.26k, 5.83k, and 6.09k. Single-layer white plastic pickguard with eight screws. Three controls (one volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch, all on pickguard. White plastic knobs with gold lettering. Fender "Synchronized Tremolo" combined bridge/tailpiece (six-pivot bridge/vibrato unit with through-body stringing). The neck has a pencil mark of "4-59," the middle pickup cavity has a pencil mark of "2-59," and the neck pickup cavity has a pencil mark of "RE" The potentiometers are all stamped "304 901" (Stackpole January 1959). This fifty-four-year-old guitar is totally original (with the exception of the neck and middle pickups having been expertly rewound by Scott Lentz and Lindy Fralin. This is most certainly one of the cleanest "Fifties" Strats that we have ever owned! Complete with the original bridge cover (ashtray), original tremolo arm and the original black leather guitar strap. Housed in its original Fender three-latch 'Tweed' case with brown leather ends and orange plush lining (9.25).
